IMTX 2014 Training, Week 2

Week 2 went pretty well…

Monday: 3.5 mile walk. Nothing too exciting about this.

Tuesday: 4 mile fartlek run with The Rach in the running stroller – it was our first time trying it out (my lovely baby shower hostesses in Houston surprised me with it – it will definitely be put to good use!). She is not sitting in the regular part of the stroller – I bought the BOB adapter so she can sit in her car seat, otherwise I can’t use it til she is 6 months old and has good head control!

Wednesday: 5 mile easy run. It was misting out but I put a blanket over the car seat. Rachel fussed a couple of times but would then settle back down as soon as I contemplated turning around. We always stay within a 1.5 mile radius of the house, so getting back won’t take too long!

Zonked after 5 miles – whew!

Thursday: 3 mile walk.

Friday: 3 miles hard. I made myself run the miles but would take a short walking break in between. I averaged 9:40, 9:15, and 9:30. Not bad for the second week back at it.

Saturday: 7 miles easy. It is so hard to determine what is “easy.” I was toast by the end of this run. I ran 2.5 miles around the loop until Marisa caught up with me and we finished out 4.5 miles – she kept going so she could make hers 5 miles, and I ended up at 7.25.

Sunday: 45 mile bike ride at the Frost Bike 50. I am trying so hard not to push myself. The chip and seal roads were a little tough on me, I felt a few twinges. I am so in tune with my body that I wonder if I am a little paranoid. I figure if something were wrong, I would KNOW it – right? My mind is saying GO but my body is not quite there yet. I would feel myself start to push, then hold back, push, hold back. I kept repeating “go easy, go easy” in my head. The headwinds on the way back SUCKED.

But had fun!

 Jess was there too!

Taking at least one off day, maybe two to recover from my long workouts.
