IMTX 2014 training, week 1.

It’s a new year! And as of January 1st, I’m working out again. As you might know, I’m registered for a little event on May 17th – my second go with Ironman Texas. I’m hoping this year will go a little more as planned, but will take another finish, PR or not!

I have to start slow. The training I’m doing is also taking into account other “races” I have planned – quotes because I might not be up to actually racing but rather participating (if I can’t push it come race day).

Thanks to Jess for putting together my running plan! She designed a training calendar to lead me up to March 1st – The Woodlands Marathon. But then I also had to integrate our bike rides and swimming. I am planning to fundraise for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through their Team in Training program again, as a participant in Galveston 70.3 – I’ve done this one before too! So we will have some team runs and rides! Looking forward to being able to do distance again.  Check out my fundraising page to donate!

So my regimen began on Wednesday of this past week – 3 easy miles! I stuck to a 4:1 running/walking interval to ease myself back into things. I was running at ~10:30/mile pace.

It was so much fun, and I was so happy to come home to this little face!

She loves lying on her side.

Thursday was a recovery – three miles of walking.

Friday was another easy 3, about the same pace. Went to the loop with Marisa – it was chilly out!

6 weeks postpartum on Friday.  I still have a belly, but all in good time.

Saturday I planned to run with the Galveston team, but I’m really a slave to Rachel’s schedule (not so much anymore, thanks to today’s happenings) and she wasn’t having any of it in the morning. So Aimee, Jess, and I rode bikes at Memorial picnic loop.

15.5 miles in exactly one hour! I was glad, I wanted to stick to 15mph average on my first day on a bike in almost 6 months!

I was very happy to be back in the saddle.

Then Steph (she came in town for the day) and I took Rachie on a 2 mile walk.

Sunday was my longest run yet – 5 easy miles. I was definitely feeling it at the end. I still averaged between 10:30-11:00/mile. Not bad. I can’t wait to get back to my old pace, or at least run HARD again. I plan to ask the doc this week if it’s ok to push myself or if I need to still take it easy.

I made Shane take a photo because I thought my outfit was cute – love my sparkly Sweaty Band.

Hooray for off days!  Princess Rachel likes em too.

That’s a “light” training schedule?!? *head spins* I’ll never be cut out to be an Ironman. I’m just hoping I can motivate myself to some day have that glorious 3.1 (yes, 3.1 and not 13.1) sticker on my car. I want to be a runner, I really do, I’m just so unmotivated! How do you do it?!?

BTW, I nominated you for a Sunshine Blogger Award. Do with it what you will.
