Body after baby – the first month(ish)

I wrote a post before having Rach about weight gain. I had decided not to fret about the poundage and just focus on exercise and eating right, and I think I did a good job – well, I might have had a few too many sweets. But I managed to gain just under 30 pounds – I ended up at 28. I have since lost 20 pounds so I have those pesky 8 to go. I am ok with that. I haven’t started exercising yet – I am planning to go running on January 1st! 2 days before my 6-week mark, but I figure it’s ok. It will be a run/walk. Jogging, I think it’s pronounced “yogging.”  Man, lots of Anchorman links lately.

Of course I have been tracking progress with photos, like any good blogger would.

The first week home, I was still so bloated from the surgery.  Oy.
This was taken on Thanksgiving morning, just a day before the one-week mark.
 Two weeks was much better.
Three, about the same.

I forgot to take week four!  So here’s 5.  Getting back to normal, but not quite.

I am ready to work out again.  Ironman training starts 1/1 – not so coincidentally, the day I return to exercise.  I am planning a short run/walk, as mentioned, and an easy bike ride, be it outdoors or on the trainer.  I’m not anxious about getting the weight off so much as I am getting back in shape for running and triathlon, hah!

Moms, how long did it take to lose those pesky last few pounds?

You are doing great! Mine didn’t all come off until I stopped nursing. When the baby turned 5 months and started sleeping better, it was a major turning point for me to feel really good too.

Thanks Marci – I am anticipating a few lingering pounds thanks to nursing :)

I am sooooo looking forward to more sleep!

Dang, why didn’t you post this up earlier? I could have bought you a nice toothbrush holder for Christmas.

What’s wrong with our green ceramic cups?
