Weekend Recap: Eggplant parm, donuts, cloth diapers, and froyo.

How do the weekends come and go so quickly? And now it’s already Tuesday again. Hmph.

On Friday night we stayed in and I made this “labor-inducing” *cough* not so much *cough* eggplant parmigiana. Luckily I didn’t think it would actually work, and we ended up with a super delicious dinner. Scalini’s owes me a gift certificate. ;)

My mom came in town Friday night too. On Saturday morning we went on a 2-mile walk – to the donut shop and back. If you think I’m joking, well I’m not. I rarely ate donuts before I got pregnant but in the last trimester they might as well be a food group. 100% of your daily value of sugar, NOM! I’m trying to remember what else we did on Saturday!

Aimee came over later and we walked another mile with the doggies before cleaning up and going to lunch at Onion Creek. I love the Creeks and Onion now serves veggie dogs, so I needed one with sauerkraut and lots of mustard on a pretzel bun, yes please and thank you.

We cleaned out the office, cataloguing items to go to Goodwill. You can actually walk in there now! Wish I had taken before and after pics, it’s pretty drastic. We had moved a lot of stuff from the baby’s room into the office. Still need to go through a bunch of crap, but hey at least it’s progress.

We also practiced our cloth diaper skills – my friend Shellie had a ton of cloth diapers so we are going to try them out! I have heard great things about prefolds but I worry it might be too much - who has experience with prefolds vs. all-in-one? Which do you prefer?

Either way, Charlie was not impressed.

I was supposed to go to my friend Mollie’s Halloween party that night, but my mom coming in town topped off with some super strong contractions led me to a rain check. WHY doesn’t this baby want to come out? She keeps faking me out!

On Sunday I made challah French toast (the best kind!) and we watched movies and TV – lazy rainy day. Just trying to keep busy til the little gal decides to make her debut. I’m a real grouch though – each day that passes is more miserable than the one before it. Just because I feel HUUUUUGE and uncomfortable.

Monday still totally counts as the weekend right? Because Jess and I went to Menchie’s to catch up over frozen treats, and that was the highlight of my Monday.

Since I am a blogger, I have to take pictures of my froyo. Honey graham cracker and cookies and cream with Butterfinger and Oreo. I make really healthy decisions in froyo shops.

Cross your fingers for a baby in the next few days….I guess we will see what my doc has to say tomorrow.

Moms, tell me about your cloth diaper experience!! I need to know.

What’s your fav place for froyo?  I need to know this also.

I have a free coupon to Menchies and I am going really soon! If the baby hasn’t come, I will let you know and you can meet me!

PS. I can’t wait to hear how cloth diapering goes. I asked my MIL how those were and she said “awful.” Hahahaha. I thought diapers were expensive, until I calculated them out, and not as bad as I thought! But some people love cloth diapers, so let me know, and maybe I’ll give them a shot sometime.

PSS. Dr. Levin told me 10 days early (which was exactly what I thought, so I really hung my hat on it)…and it didn’t happen…but he was 5 days early! Right when I was settling in for the long haul, he came so unexpectedly.

Free Menchie’s is even better! Lucky you.

I will let you know how it goes! We are going to give it a shot, prob not at first (we have a ton of newborn disposables from showers, and it’s one less thing to worry about).

I am anxious for the gal to come – just a waiting game now, but hopefully I will have progressed more at my appt tomorrow morning!!

I love our pre-folds, and I had never changed a diaper before using them. I recommend having the clean diaper folded and in a new diaper cover before you change the dirty diaper (sort of like an all-in-one) so you don’t have to try to wrestle the clean pre-fold back into the old cover all while trying to wrestle all of that onto your newborn. Good luck!!

Good to know!! We watched some videos last night and it actually looks way easier than I originally thought. Thanks for the tip on already having them ready to go!
