Weekend recap: a shower and a triathlon!

This weekend was a quick trip up to Dallas. Not as quick as usual though, since I took Friday off and we left in the early morning (6:30am!). Made it to D-town in time to grab lunch with my old boss – she sent us a really sweet baby gift and I wanted to thank her in person. Plus I had not seen her since I moved from Dallas to Charlotte in 2007!

We always go to Mi Cocina when we are in town, because it is delicious. Stuffed my face for dinner and went to sleep early. Then I went on a 4.5 mile walk across the bridge in the morning (the bridge itself is 2 miles long) while my dad ran. I ran a little but not too much, maybe 10% of the entire walk. I’m getting heavy, after all! My hips paid for that later. I can still run a pretty decent pace, which is fun to see; I just can’t do it for very long.

My sister and two of my close friends (Merritt and Jeanette) were throwing a very fun baby shower Saturday afternoon!! It was race themed. Hmmm, book shower, race shower? It’s like you guys know me or something.

Check out the cute invitation!

I got a few pics of the shower too. My mom’s friend Tonya took a bunch of excellent pictures that I need to upload as well, so for now some crappy phone pics will have to do!

The “guest book” my sister made – everyone signed a paper onesie and hung it up!

“Water Station”

“Bag Drop”

“Awards” – prizes for the games!

It was a ton of fun seeing old friends. I just wish there were more time at these kinds of things to talk to everyone! And Baby Girl of course got showered with lots of love and sweet presents. Her wardrobe is full and I swear I have only bought ONE onesie!! And a bib.

Saturday night our friends Kyle and Cara stayed at my parents’ house for the TRIATHLON! We were excited to see Aimee in her first! So I woke up early with the racers and we got ready to head out for a morning of spectating!

I got to meet up with Aimee and some of her friends before the race and offer last-minute pointers. I had done the race 2 years ago (weird that it was so long ago) and the Olympic course was brutal then, but at least the wind was not bad on Sunday. And the weather was actually perfect!!  My dad took lots of pics as always.

Pre-race photo opp:

We stayed near the swim exit and got to see Aimee come out of the water and run toward transition. She headed out on the bike, and we refueled with coffee and hot chocolate.

Off the bike, ready to run!

In the finisher chute….so close…..

BOOM, triathlete.

I won’t say much about her race because she is writing a RECAP! Stay tuned…

Kyle and Cara also both PR’ed, so a great day was had by all!

After a leftover pizza lunch, we got on the road around 2pm. I was EXHAUSTED. As soon as we got home, we made crappy burritos and I crashed hard for 9 hours.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. Hope you had a good one too!
