Week 37 – FULL TERM!

As far as I’m concerned, baby girl is freeloading from here on out. She needs to get OUT and get a job!

The baby is the size of a watermelon (still – she won’t get toooo much bigger).

Total Weight Gain: 26 pounds. Weighed in at 25 all week, but this morning was an even 26. Shouldn’t gain too much more weight since things are slowing down.

Weekly Workouts: This past week was just a few walks (and I even did some running – slow running – on Saturday!). Hit my weekly goal of 10 miles – I refuse to be in single-digit weeks. And went to prenatal yoga!

Maternity Clothes: Are starting to get a little tight. Not cool.

Sleep: Wake up all the time. It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten a decent night’s sleep. Isn’t it nature’s way of preparing me?

Best Moment of the Week: This weekend was wonderful. The weather was gorgeous and we had the balcony doors open all day on Saturday. Shane stopped at Starbucks on our way to the park so I could get a salted caramel mocha (originally wanted PSL but the mocha sounded better). And we had dinner together after we left the engagement party that night. It was perfect!

**Can we talk about maternity pictures for a second?? I’m glad we got some pics in the final weeks at the park this weekend, but holy hell, there is NO WAY I would pay for professional pics of me at my heaviest.  Yeah, they would have turned out better than ours, but still. Call it narcissism…but NO. Plus, what do you do with them afterward besides stick them in a scrapbook?  Or on a BLOG!!! :) **

Food cravings: Halloween candy, PUMPKIN BEER (would be great to have a nice pumpkin ale this time of year), anything really heavy or cheesy.

Food aversions: Nothing right now.

Symptoms: Contractions, carpal tunnel, swollen feet and hands.

Movement: Sharp kicks (no more room in there). No space to roll around, sorry kid.

“With just three more weeks to go and at about six and a half pounds (though weight and height vary from fetus to fetus), your baby is doing just fine. You can expect weight gain to be about half an ounce per day. (Boys, though, are likely to be heavier at birth than girls. And here’s a bit of boy baby trivia to back that one up: Moms carrying boys tend to eat more than moms carrying girls — a foreshadowing of teenage refrigerator raids to come.) Since your little one is considered full-term at 37 weeks pregnant, if your baby was to leave the wet nest this week, he or she would likely thrive. That’s because Mother Nature and you have done such a fine job.

So what’s keeping your little one busy while waiting it out until D-day? Practice, practice, practice. Your baby is simulating breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking on his or her thumb, blinking, and pivoting from side to side (one day you feel the tushy on the left side, another day it has swung around to the right side). All these are skills needed for his or her next gig — starring as newborn.

Here’s an interesting fact: Your baby’s head (which, by the way, is still growing) will, at birth, be the same size circumference as his or her hips, abdomen, and shoulders. And guess what’s making an impression (literally) these days on those shoulders and hips: fat — causing little dimples in those cute elbows and knees, shoulders and hip, and creases and folds in the neck and wrists.” – What to Expect (

Gender: GIRL

What I’m Looking Forward To: GOING INTO LABOR, first of all. Yeah, that’s top of my list these days.  We do have a Halloween party to attend this Saturday night – Mollie’s annual bash!  I don’t have a costume but I’m sure I can whip something together if baby girl isn’t here yet – pregnant marathon runner again?  Remember that lady who went into labor right after running a marathon?  I did that at work 2 years ago, time to bring it back.  And OMG, there is no way I could do 26.2 at 39 weeks.  NO WAY.

What I Miss: Riding a bike, running, drinking, walking (since now I waddle).

Next Appointment: October 24th – our 4-year anniversary!

Estimated due date is November 11th!  Some work people, family, and friends have a pool going.  It was $2 per am/pm slot – one winner gets $120.   Today my friend Kyle has the whole day bought, but I’m not really feeling like it’s gonna happen today…sorry Kyle.  The pool goes through 11/18 – isn’t that fun?  I didn’t think it was fair for me or Shane to play, but one lucky winner will make some money off my misery.
