Week 26

in Baby Gins,Pregnancy

The baby is the size of a cucumber!

Total Weight Gain: Approx 12 pounds.

Weekly Workouts: My only workout this past week was WALKING everywhere in London and Paris. In a week we walked 69.08 miles – almost 10 miles per day on average. Yikes.

Gratuitous picture of me noshing on a sandwich in Paris.  I have no idea how I didn’t gain 10 pounds!

Maternity Clothes: Rocked ‘em all on our trip.

Sleep: Still uncomfortable, I toss and turn and get up to pee.

Best Moment of the Week: I LOVED our sister trip (recap to come), having tea at the Landmark Hotel was awesome, as were all the crepes in Paris – baby loves those.

Food cravings: Crepes and cheese. But now it’s veggies – need a cleanse.

Food aversions: Still not so fond of mushrooms.

Symptoms: Definitely feel pregnant – and feel like I LOOK super pregnant. Got some FAT FEET on our last two days of the trip. “Help me, I’m fat.” No worries, they have since returned to normal size.

“Look who’s looking. Your baby’s eyes – which have been closed for the past few months – are beginning to open. All this means is that your baby is able to see what’s going on now; unfortunately the view in your uterus isn’t that exciting. The iris still doesn’t have much pigmentation so it’s too early to start guessing your baby’s eye color. Even the color your baby will be born with might not be the permanent shade, so you may be kept guessing until your baby is close to six months old. Look what else is going on this week: your baby’s brain-wave activity is kicking in at this stage in fetal development, which means your little one can not only hear noises but can now also respond to them. Not in so many words, of course, but with an increase in pulse rate or activity. And talking about activity, at your baby’s current height and weight (about nine inches tall and two pounds), and at the rate she is growing, your baby will soon be feeling a little cramped in your uterus. Not to worry, there’s still plenty of room for your baby to grow. It just means your gymnast will have less room for those somersaults, cartwheels, and other Olympic feats..” – What to Expect (

Gender: Girl!

What I’m Looking Forward To: My friend Margarita’s baby shower this Saturday – reminds me that I have a lot to look forward to!! And it will be fun to be around all the baby stuff, I think. Either that or I will get super stressed, hah. Also, it’s HOUSTON RESTAURANT WEEKS!!! Unleash me; I plan to do some damage.

What I Miss: Running fast, sleeping through the night, and I could really go for a tequila shot this week. Just saying.

Next Appointment: August 8th

Estimated due date is November 11th, 2013!
