I’m writing from a coffee shop while waiting on a flight back to Houston. I’ve been in Tennessee for work yesterday and today. Flew into Nashville eeeeaaaaarrrrrlllllyyyyyyyy yesterday morning, had a noon meeting, drove to Memphis, had an early morning meeting today. I was originally supposed to fly back tomorrow but I figured why not get home earlier, save on the hotel and rental car? Totally worth the $75, saves the company money, and I get to sleep in my own bed.

I wasn’t mentally prepared for the physical toll this not-even-48-hour trip would take on me. I think things are definitely slowing down as I creep through the last trimester. Yesterday my feet looked like bread was baking in my shoes – they were so swollen. It was pretty gross. I read that exercise helps since it increases circulation, so I made myself “run” (read: ralk intervals) 4 miles on the treadmill.  I think that helped but they are starting to balloon again – I’m sure this flight will work wonders not.

At this point, I do not think I could run a 5K in under 30 minutes. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that my sister could likely beat me in a 5K, which is really saying something (sorry Steph). I don’t know though, pride might take over at that point and somehow make me go faster ;)

I am planning to participate in the Be the Match 5K on 9/14 – since it benefits Be the Match Foundation, an organization for bone marrow donations and is directly related to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! I want to support them and it will be fun. But it will not be fast. So if you want to take advantage and beat me (ok some of you reading *cough Jess cough* can always beat me but whatever), I highly recommend doing it for a great cause!

What else?  Well the weather is so nice in Houston (at least earlier this week) that I could run in the evening!  I do prefer mornings but it’s nice to have the option.  Lately it hasn’t been a choice since it’s still 100 degrees when I get home from work.  But on Monday it was in the 80s so I did an easy 3 miles.

On Tuesday, eleven (!) of us went to Sonoma Wine Bar in The Heights. It was great fun and company, and while the food was pretty delish, the service definitely left something to be desired. And it was past most of our bedtimes by 9:30 – we’re old.

I can’t believe we didn’t take a group pic! What were we thinking?? Ladies, c’mon.  We’re better than this.

I’m excited to be making it home soon though.  Going to an event at the Natural Science Museum tomorrow night, we of course have childbirth class on Saturday, and having dinner with some friends on Sunday.  I know I’m forgetting something too.  Anyway…should make for a relaxing but fun weekend!

Ever travel for work?  And what’s everyone up to this weekend?
