The baby is the size of a papaya.

Total Weight Gain:  Officially 9 pounds. Still not a lot for being this far in, but my doctor said I gained 6 of it in the last 5 weeks! So I should slow down a little. Oops – must have been those desserts in Costa Rica :)

Weekly Workouts: Took Monday off on purpose, but accidentally slept through my Tuesday workout, oops! Ran 6 miles with Shea on Wednesday morning, and went to “nightclub cardio” that evening. It was a little like THIS. Hilarious. Ran 4 miles at the gym (at a faster pace than usual) on Thursday, went to spin on Friday morning. Shea and I ran our long run (9 miles!!) Saturday. It was hot hot hot out, even though we started at 6am. Oh well, got ‘er done – low mileage on the feet this week. Then Aimee, AC, Kate, and I rode 40 miles on the IMTX course on Sunday. I was suffering a little coming back – the wind plus my heart rate already being up….yeah, I was tired!

Maternity Clothes: Necessary at this point. I can still wear my old work pants with the Bella band, but I can no longer force my pants to button like I could just a month or so ago.

Sleep: Getting a lot these days. Sleeping through workouts, taking naps, what the heck. Actually, that’s going to be the hardest part of the next training cycle – no post-ride naps! Baby girl will want her mommy to stay awake!

Best Moment of the Week: Our weekend was really full but productive. Shane and I went to our first Bradley Method childbirth class and it’s sweet to see him get into it. We also went to Babies R Us to start a registry. That was a little overwhelming, so we left pretty quickly and started working on it at home – much easier. Then I got to pick the brains of a couple of gals (my friends Courtney and Valerie) at a fun get-together. I need all the advice I can get! Thanks ladies.

Food cravings: None right now, really. Trying to watch my sugar intake. Not tooooo many sweets.

Food aversions: None right now.

Symptoms: Major back pain.  And playing a little game called “Is that a scratch or stretch mark?!” – sticking with scratch for now.

Movement: She is still moving and kicking and turning. I dream about it, so I think she is doing it while I sleep too.

“At eight inches and slightly over a pound, your baby is the size and shape of a small doll. This week marks the beginning of some serious weight gain. Your baby’s weight in the next four weeks alone should double. You have probably heard your developing baby’s heartbeat through a Doppler a number of times already, but by now you can also hear it through a standard stethoscope. What a heart throb! Your baby’s skin is reddish in color now because of the developing blood vessels underneath (remember, the skin is very thin still). It also hangs loosely from her little body at this point. That’s because the skin grows faster than the fat develops during fetal growth. But don’t worry – by the time your baby is born, she will be pleasantly plump and filled out – from chubby cheeks to chubby toes.” – What to Expect (

Gender: Little baby girl!

What I’m Looking Forward To: My family might be coming to visit this weekend, depending on my dad’s work schedule. And we have a couple’s baby shower to attend!

What I Miss: Racing. Jelly of all my friends who did triathlons this past weekend.

Next Appointment: August 8th

Estimated due date is November 11th, 2013!
