20 Weeks – HALFWAY!

by Christa on June 24, 2013

in Baby Gins,Pregnancy

The baby is the size of a BANANA. wut. I’M OFFICIALLY HALFWAY DONE!!!

Please excuse how grody I look in these pics.  This is probably the worst I’ve felt the whole pregnancy – upset tummy, my back is killing me, and I’m exhausted!

Total Weight Gain: Six or seven pounds.

Weekly Workouts: Slept in on Sunday, so went for a long walk with Shane and the dogs on Monday so as not to completely skip 2 days in a row. Also did some stair-climbing in our house a few times to burn more cals, hah! Stairs really get me. 6 mile run with Shea on Tuesday, 5 miles with Aimee on Wednesday, nada on Thursday (too busy), spin class with Jess on Friday, and 9 miles all by my lonesome on Saturday.

Maternity Clothes: My MiL got me some adorable maternity clothes, which I thought was an oxymoron but it isn’t! Cute stuff from Gap and Macy’s for awesome prices, so I can live with it. The dress I liked best from Gap and plan to wear to a rehearsal dinner and maybe a shower came in at a whopping SIX DOLLARS. Love it.

Sleep: I need lots these days, though I’m getting a little uncomfortable. 2 dogs, husband, and pregnant lady in a queen bed = need more room.

Best Moment of the Week: That’s easy. Finding out we’re having a baby GIRL!!!! I love knowing it’s a she in there. Even if I continue to call her “it” out of habit. Sorry baby girl!  Pics of our sex party (way more fun to say than gender reveal) coming soon.

Food cravings: None right now, though the Sprinkles cupcakes were super delicious.

Food aversions: None really.

Symptoms: Showing! Nothing else really except feeling tired. And my damn stomach and back today.

Movement: I can feel baby girl move around throughout the day. Getting comfy!

“You’ve got a heavyweight in your belly. Your little champ weighs about ten ounces (ours weighed 11 at the appointment) and has a height, crown to rump, of about six and a half inches. Think small cantaloupe (and probably as sweet too). Is it a boy or girl cantaloupe? You’ll be able to find out your baby’s sex via the ultrasound at this point (WE DID!!!). If you’re carrying a girl fetus, her uterus is fully formed and her vaginal canal is starting development (which means that in twenty-five or thirdy-some-odd years, she could be where you’re at, Grandma!). She also has primitive eggs in her tiny little ovaries now, seven million of them – but by the time she is born, that number will be down to two million. And interestingly, your baby girl will be born with all the eggs she’ll ever have. (I skipped the boy part because we’re having a GIRL). Though the external genitals in both male and female fetuses still have a way to grow, you should be able to find out the sex of your baby during an ultrasound exam.” – What to Expect (

Radiologist said everything looked ok.  Got shots and measurements of all her organs.

Gender: IT’S A GIRL! She’s got a cute little profile and the cutest little feet.

Hands up by her face – “don’t look at me!”

What I’m Looking Forward To: Our “babymoon” (does it count if we’ve been planning it since well before I got pregnant?) in Costa Rica!! Can’t wait. It’s been too long since we’ve taken a trip together.

What I Miss: Running hard, not tiring so easily, getting my buzz on. ;o)

Next Appointment: July 10th

Estimated due date is November 11th, 2013!

YAY! Welcome to Team Pink! So excited for you guys.

My husband and I did Costa Rica for our honeymoon – have you been? Such an amazing country – you’re going to love it! We’re doing Hilton Head and Savannah for our baby moon, but I’ll be 30 weeks pregnant and a bathing suit is going to be straight up SCARY.
