Sunday – JCC/TKC Family Tri – 400m swim, 10 mile bike, 3.7 mile run.  Finished in 1:19, they messed up my splits for the first two (they combined my swim and bike) but I averaged 8:24 for the run, I’ll take it…

How sad is that finisher chute, dude?   It was a family tri so most of the adults had kids in the race and went to watch them on the course.  I’m a helicopter mom, my kid was with me the whole time ;)

Monday – Rest day

Tuesday – 4 mile easy run

Wednesday – Spin class in the morning, 5 mile “tempo” run in the evening.  I say “tempo” because it’s my new “tempo.”  My calves were super sore, but I only averaged about 9:00/mile….that’s slower than my recent half marathon paces…. it is hard for me to keep telling myself that things are different now.  It’s an effort thing.  A 9-minute-mile feels like 8-minute-mile effort these days.  I will keep selfishly hoping this means I’ll get faster after baby comes!

Thursday – swim set with Amy D in the am – she is training for her first tri!  We did some easy 50s and 100s, drills, and then cool down.  Went to Row Studios with Aimee after work.  It’s like a spin studio, except with rowing machines!  They incorporated circuit training a la Cross Fit (squats with sandbags, mountain climbers, and rowing).  It was interesting.

Friday – swimming after work with Amy D.  She did 1000 this time!  It’s great to be back in the water after taking a break after Oceanside.  Looking forward to longer swims too.

Saturday – 8 mile run.  6 on my own (took me awhile to warm up, my splits went steadily down after that – but then I started to get really HOT since I ran in the heat of the day).  Ran the last two with my dad with an average 9:24 pace.  Average 9:33 for the whole run.  Meh.

Not workout related, but check out this sweet picture from Shane’s graduation!  We clean up nice.  Not sure why it’s showing up so small though.

Thanks for the comment today! The tri sounds so fun- I’ve been wanting to find one to do this summer. I’ve only done one (last year) and the swim is a challenge for me. Congrats on your pregnancy, too! I definitely remember how hard paces started to feel. Plus now you have the heat and humidity to deal with!

Oh you should def do another one!! It’s so nice to be in the water and on the bike in the heat!
Thanks a bunch. And I’m glad to feel validated and that I’m not just being lazy with my running. :)
