SF/Napa Trip Part I – Pre-Race

We’re back from an a-mazing trip to California and it was VERY well documented!  We all managed to take tons of pictures to remember our fantastic time together.

Aimee, Marisa, Margarita, Julie, and I met at the airport for our flight out of Houston on Friday afternoon.  Naturally, it was delayed 4 hours.  No worries.  We passed the time by eating a snack, browsing for books, and buying coffee for strangers.

Since we arrived so late (central time), we headed straight for the hotel.

Saturday was spent at the Expotique!  We got our bibs…

And found our names on the Runners’ Wall…

But the best part was heading towards Chinatown after lunch and stopping by City Lights Bookstore (of Allen Ginsberg fame), buying a bottle of chenin blanc, and enjoying it in Washington Square amongst the pot smokers, college students, treasure hunters, and other randos.  We of course only use the fanciest of glasses.

Then we headed to the inspiration dinner.  Everything was especially meaningful because I felt like I was experiencing it for the first time all over again because Aims was experiencing it for the first time.  It was great.

Our shirts say, “Until there’s a cure, there’s no finish line.” And the back has a huge Texas flag with “Don’t mess with TNT Texas Gulf Coast.”  Very cute and to-the-point.

Since our inspiration “dinner” was at 3:45, we made sure to do some extra carb-loading at a real dinner time!  At 8pm after our team meeting, we meandered over to Cupola Pizzeria and got some extra dinner to fuel us for the run…

Part II – Race Recap! coming soon.
