August 2012 in a nutshell.

August. Was. Insane.

Hence the no posting.  Always fun to recap though so I can remember what I actually did month-by-month.

August was…

Bridgeland Tri, my first one since IMTX and it went about as expected.

Hosting 2 teenage boys for Maccabi Games, one from Columbus and one from Israel!  Our grocery bill is still recovering.

My parents visited and we enjoyed an evening at Block 7 (my fav), dinner with Shane’s parents, and brunch after…

Tri Girl Tri, in which I finished in the  most disappointing position – 4th. GAH.

HOUSTON RESTAURANT WEEKS!  Went to dinner just the two of us at Canopy (by far my favorite place out of the ones we tried), MAX’S Wine Dive (good but wayyy too filling), lunch at The Grove, dinner with 8 other fun friends at Hugo’s – also delicious and had a separate vegetarian menu (too heavy on the squash blossoms), and a tri girl dinner at Backstreet Cafe!  I know, that’s insane right?  Only once a year, and I’m a food fan, I hafta tell ya. Tried several new places and loved!  But I’m a little burned out on restaurants right now, so September is the month of eating at home.  I’ve been trying new recipes!

ARTcetera – a very fun charity event organized by my friend Laura once a year – live art!
Jess, Me, Katie, and Lauren having some fun at Roak, aka “Ironman photo!”:

Julie’s pub crawl, enjoying the libations and games at Pearl Bar:

And finally…a freakin SPELLING BEE to benefit Corridor Rescue!  It was so much fun.  Lindsay D, Ryan, Lindsay J, Sherry, and I hauled ass to The Fairview to spell our asses off.  They do it once a month and we’ll definitely be back.  Sherry did us all proud by bringing home 2nd place!

On to September…today is my sister’s 24th birthday!!

Restaurant weeks are my FAVORITE. We’ve got two in Richmond – one in the spring and one in the fall and I can’t help but try out a few restaurants. It’s a great excuse to eat out.
