So far my latest posts have been weekend and monthly recaps. Mostly because I’m feeling all the feelings right now and it’s just a little overwhelming to put pen to paper fingers to keyboard.
June wasn’t nearly so eventful as May. I thought it’d be good but it turns out I thrive in chaos. I get depressed when I don’t have 436,409 things to do. It makes me feel sluggish. And let me preface with the disclaimer that I KNOW I’M NOT FAT but it makes me feel fat when I’m sluggish. I’ll be standing in the bathroom getting ready and all of a sudden, I’m like “ARE MY THIGHS TOUCHING? I FEEL LIKE THEY’RE TOUCHING.” And immediately jump on the scale. I know I said that I could stand to gain a few pounds after all the weight I lost during IM training (no booze probably helped in the last month too), but it turns out I’m not ok seeing numbers go up once they’ve gone down. And it’s more about how I FEEL than the numbers. Today I was standing in my underwear getting ready and was like omgz, is that back fat? I’ve put on 4 pounds in the past month. And not morning bloat fluctuation pounds, like a solid 4 lbs. Oh well. I bought a one-day juice cleanse but I’ve been waiting to find the right day to do it. I think it turns out juice cleanses are not for me. I like food, usually in large quantities. I might just have to use these as breakfast substitutes or something.
Book Club restarted – we picked a few good books for the coming months. First up is Just Kids by Patti Smith. I know Ashley wrote about this book and how much she loved it. I’m only 30 pages in and it’s pretty depressing, as expected, but I am enjoying it.
A few happy hours with friends – much more enjoyable now that I’m drinking again. Did I tell yall I went 31 days without alcohol? That was harder than the Ironman.
Fundraiser at Karbach Brewery to help out my buddy Ben with his fundraising. It was a great success! Plus, who doesn’t love $20 all-you-can-drink craft beer?
Gave two tours at Holocaust Museum Houston.
Who’s Your Doggy fundraiser at BlackFinn raised $869 for Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward – a most deserving organization that rescues animals in 5th Ward of Houston.
A few recruiting events for Winter 2012 season of TNT – I am one of the coaches for Houston & Disney Marathon!!
An exciting week of objectifying men – Thunder from Down Under for Misty’s birthday and then saw Magic Mike with a group of ladies on Saturday!
Mollie’s birthday tea party – lots of fun, and even though it was technically 7/1 I’m counting it as June since her b-day is the 29th.
I’m getting a little restless, so I hope July has more in store. At least the Olympics will be going strong later this month! I’ve really enjoyed watching the trials, especially track & field and gymnastics. I was a decent gymnast back in the day, mostly thanks to all the dance I did, so it’s fun to watch – even though the tricks they do today are SO MUCH HARDER than even the best gymnasts could do 15 years ago, yknow? Just like everyone is swimming, cycling, running faster, jumping higher, playing harder. Everyone just keeps getting better.
