This weekend was extremely busy, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating here. First of all, I needed to take Friday off – NEEDED. A mental health day was in order, and it turned out to be a decent one. I had an interview and then enjoyed a hazelnut mocha at Dirk’s Coffee on Montrose, followed by a walk with the dogs, lunch at Central Market, and the purchase of new running gear. A dinner of chicken souvlaki cooked by yours truly and Aimee joined in on the fun.
Saturday morning was my first official Team in Training (TNT) group training session at Memorial Park. At 7am. Um. I don’t even wake up that early for WORK. Seriously. But yknow, I realized something awesome at this first training sesh. I can really do this. I can run an entire frickin marathon. And I’m going to. Oh ALSO – check out the sweet badgy button thing I designed on the sidebar – if you want to donate, cool. Oh, and then I bought new Asics. Boom.
Brunch with Ki and Sherry at Empire Cafe – DELICIOUS. I totally killed breakfast burritos, cheddar hash browns, and fruit plate (and mimosa) because I was starving after that run. Those gals are funny, and we had a great time catching up and also discussing the crazy nastyass honey badger.
After a 2 or 3 hour nap while my hubs busted his ass taking the GMAT, I went with sisterly ladies (Aimee and her fiancee’s sister Leah) to Pinot’s Palette, to a follow along painting class, where we took on Klimt’s “The Kiss.” I was convinced mine would look much more like a Jackson Pollock, but I am pleasantly surprised with the end result. Here’s the preliminary sketch:
And some more progress:
Aims and Leah enjoying themselves some painting!
Aims and I look like true artists.
Finished the hair and dress!
The finished product – suck it, Klimt!
So there ya have it. And the weekend turned out to be particularly artsy fartsy; following a delicious Freebirds brunch today, Shane and I headed to The Mad Potter to make some badass pottery (see? it’s manly!). I made a Coffee for Husband mug a few weeks ago. So here’s his follow-up (while I worked on a secret project):
My sister’s response? “Nice beard, Jesus.”
I guess it’s been awhile since we’ve seen her. Oh, oops.

Yay! As exhausting as weekends like this can be, don’t they also make you feel rather alive? I need to get my ass into some training. Perhaps I’ll get up early tomorrow!
When you come visit, we’ll run with TNT – booyah!
