Thankful – 2010

Firstly, I am thankful I have a phone with a data plan because without it this post would not be possible.  My parents’ computer? A-blows.

We made the trek to Dallas Wednesday night – we’ll go back Saturday morning.

Let’s talk about real stuff though.

There’s so-so-much I’m thankful for this year:

  • Our health.  Though we’re not super-cardio-weights-nuts-vegan-health-freaks, we remain pretty healthy – Shane might disagree because he has a cold right now, but really.  Health is clutch.
  • Living in Charlotte.  Shocker, huh?!  No, really.  I am so grateful to have met such wonderful, amazing people.  And to have lived in a different state, for once!  I’m thankful for the lessons I learned from the not-so-great people too.
  • Being a place where I can drive to see my family now.  Yes, Houston is hot as shit.  Yes, it’s ugly as shit.  Yes, it’s crowded as shit.  But it’s Tejas, firstly.  And also close to people I LOVE.  Which brings me to my next point.
  • Just making it an all-around great year.  These are NOT the events I would have chosen for myself in our first year of marriage but I’m damn glad they all happened.
  • Family, friends.  Family’s tough man.  They can be trying sometimes, but they’re there for you and for the most part have it right and have your best interests at heart.  My friends are incredible people, and I sometimes don’tdeserve yall.  I feel so lucky.  Family, friends – you light up my life.

On that note (before I start crying), I’d like to end with a few wonderful moments from this Turkey Day.  You all know I like to use humor as a defense mechanism – and also a way to get attention.

Me (to my family dissing plastic surgery):  I think plastic surgery’s like Chick-Fil-A.  If God didn’t want me to have it, then He wouldn’t have invented it.

My Mother-in-Law:  Are you going shopping for Black Friday?
Me:  Um, it’s actually called African-American Friday.

Steph:  I’m going shopping for Black Friday.  Any requests?
Me:  Yes.  2 laptops, a stand mixer, one hot tub time machine, and 4 slow cookers.  Thanks in advance.

Happy Turkey Day, yall!!

P.S.  Gobble, gobble.
